Who Am I?

Hi! I'm Richard Yates. I'm a passionate e-commerce and digital marketing specialist with over 10 years of experience in the industry.

I help others by taking innovative ideas and translating them to the web.

My work has taken me all over the world and I’ve loved every minute of it.

Outside of work, I have many interests. If I’m not working you can find me running on the trails, walking the dog in the nearby park or taking photos with my camera. I’m also a doting dad and husband.

CWI Lighting is one of the top manufacturers, distributors and designers of lighting fixtures in North America. With over 30 years of experience, they specialize in high-quality fixtures that anyone would be proud to show off in their space. Their products are always up-to-date and stylish to please any demographic of consumers. You can find their products in hundreds of retail locations across North America.

  • Expanded the company's presence on the e-commerce market by listing the brand with new online retailers, performing the onboarding process, updating inventory reports and overseeing data and media quality assurance.
  • Optimized the performance of the e-commerce department through strategic management of employers’ accounts with over 20 online platforms and retailers including Overstock, Wayfair, Lowe’s, Rona, Homedepot, HBC, Houzz, Amazon, Macy’s and Walmart in both the Canadian and US markets.
  • Achieved an average 30% sales growth by creating and implementing strategic marketing and promotional plans to drive sales growth across various channels, including online platforms and physical stores.

They represent and distribute top quality alcoholic products and accessories from around the world.

  • Designed and built Wineloversagency B2C and B2B website on the Shopify platform using customized HTML, JavaScript and CSS.
  • Developed collections, product pages with merchandising, landing pages, promotions, blog, newsletter signup, email flows, age verification, shipping zones & live chat.

  • Design and build of Counseltron B2C and B2B website using the Shopify platform.
  • Responsible for the onsite experience and sales funnel ensuring all promotions, products and content is added, accurate and up to date.
  • Develop and drive the E-Commerce marketing strategy, tactical planning, promotional calendar, creative project timelines and content creation and deployment across key channels: email newsletter, social media such as Facebook and Twitter, Google posts.

Where did I go to school?

I studied for my BSc. at Concordia University. While there, I also took a few business courses. It was while at Concordia that I decided to take a summer job as an Internet Marketer. That summer job turned into a lifelong passion working in the digital world.

While at Concordia, I was also a member of the Cross Country and Track and Field teams. I competed nationally and went on to obtain the MVP award for both the summer and winter seasons.

I studied for my first BSc. at Plymouth University. Shortly after graduating I embarked on a cycling trip from England, through France and Spain to Morocco before emmigrating back to Canada (by plane).

It was a great time studying at Hinchingbrooke. Where else can you claim that your school was originally founded as a nunnery in the year 1080AD. (Yes. You read that correctly) Or that your school was previously the stately home of the Cromwell family and entertained guests such as Samuel Pepys. While at Hinchingbrooke, I went on to obtain 3 (three) A Levels, 1 (one) AO Level and 9 (nine) O Levels. I was also a member of the student council. Some of my best friendships were established here. Thanks to the internet, we are still connected today.

I spent a very short time at Welland High School as my family relocated to England soon after starting but this still remains an influential and pivotal time. Thanks to the internet, I'm still in touch with many of my friends from back then. Oh yeah... I still have my Welland High School jacket. And you know what? It still fits!

Boardwalk RC

I'm an avid and competative runner. Not because I'm trying to beat anyone. Just because it helps me be at my best. I plan to compete in the World Masters Games (+35) coming to Toronto in 2020. I train on my own and with Boardwalk Running Club. I also help with the coaching of the younger athletes at Boardwalk RC in my spare time.

Ohana

We are a family

That's us. Our little Ohana in Hawaii. Like most of you, we're very busy people. Nowadays, some of our best dates are on the weekend while shopping for fruit and veg at the grocery store. We'll discuss important issues while watching our son's soccer practice. Otherwise we'll comumnicate by text and email during the week. Sound familiar?

Pinot

Our Dog, Pinot

He's a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. Take a walk along the Danforth any evening of the year and you'll see him sniffing the air, wagging his tail and carrying his frizzbie in preparation for a game of fetch. Pinot remained nameless for a few days after being adopted but then, voila, his parents had a revelation while browsing in an LCBO store .
